At the meeting, the Lebanese premier appreciated Iran’s support for formation of the national unity government in Lebanon.
The Islamic Republic of Iran enjoys a very significant status in regional developments and has always played constructive, positive and leading role in promotion of stability and prosperity in the region.
“We are willing to base our mutual as well as regional relations on promotion of bilateral interests in various fields as politics, economy and culture,” he said.
He also highlighted the significant role of the Lebanese people's resistance to atrocities of the Zionist occupiers.
Lebanon is now passing through a tough time and thus it should patch up disputes to attain unity and enter reconstruction era, said the Lebanese premier.
The Iranian foreign minister, for his part, expressed satisfaction with the failure of enemies’ futile attempts to trigger sectarian violence in Lebanon.
Lauding the wise and vigilance of Lebanese leaders in restoring political tranquility to the country, he congratulated them on formation of the national unity government in Lebanon and said formation of such a government will help bring solidarity and political stability to the country.
Mottaki also conveyed the warm greetings of Iran’s first vice president to the Lebanese premier and expressed the hope that the visit would open a new chapter in expansion and consolidation of ties between the two countries.
Referring to Hariri’s regional tour, he expressed the hope that such visits would prepare ground for convergence and expansion of regional cooperation.
Pointing to Iran-Lebanon joint economic commission meeting, he called for implementation of already reached accords between the two sides.
Mottaki described Lebanon's concerns about continued atrocities and aggressive policies of the Zionist regime as very important and said that Iran like before would take advantage of its potentials at regional and global fora to prevent lawbreaking approach of the Zionist regime.
He hoped to witness further expansion of ties in politics, economy, culture and science as well as in regional and international arena.
Referring to cultural and historical commonalties, the two sides called for more exchange of views between Iranian and Lebanese officials.
