Mizuho Securities Ties Up with Maybank Investment Bank

Tokyo, Dec. 21 (Jiji Press)--Japan's Mizuho Securities Co. <8606>
said Monday it has tied up with Malaysia's Maybank Investment Bank to
cooperate in investment banking services.

Maybank Investment Bank, part of Malaysia's largest financial group
Maybank, became the first partner in the Southeast Asian financial industry
for the brokerage arm of Mizuho Financial Group Inc. <8411>.
Mizuho hopes to tap Maybank Investment Bank's expertise in Islamic
finance to provide funding to Japanese firms operating in Malaysia.
The tie-up provides "optimal synergies for both parent company
groups in terms of profiling and revenue potential," the two firms said in a
joint statement.
