Iran calls for IDB participation in selling Islamic bonds

Tehran, Dec 20, IRNA – Iran's Minister of Economics and Finance Affairs in a meeting with the deputy head of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) in financial affairs called for the participation of the IDB in selling international Islamic bonds.

Seyyed Shamseddin Hosseini said that Iran intends to issue bonds valued 2.5 billion euro and the IDB can buy these bonds and present them in international markets. "The government of Iran guarantees its interest," he said.

He added Iran is among few countries with Islamic banking system and is ready to support different activities of the IDB in direction of increasing cooperation among Islamic countries.

Hosseini also expressed Iran’s readiness to increase its capital in IDB as one of its shareholders.

The IDB senior official, by welcoming Iran’s proposals, said he is in Tehran to receive proposals concerning cooperation with IDB.

Considering signed cooperation agreements with Iran, the IDB welcomes Iran’s increasing capital in the bank, he said.

Abdullah Aziz al-Hanavi expounded on IDB subsidiaries and said these institutes are good supplementaries for the bank activities./end

He said Iran is one of the active members of the IDB and pointed out that IDB, upon its regulations, is committed to present its achievements to Iranian large industrial and manufacturing companies.
