Allies in Afghanistan should adopt realistic approach: Iranian FM

TEHRAN, Dec. 19 (MNA) -- Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki has said all the allied forces in Afghanistan should adopt a realistic and comprehensive approach.

Mottaki, who was in Copenhagen along with President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad for the United Nations Climate Change Conference, made the remarks in a meeting with his Danish counterpart Per Stig Moeller on Thursday.

Mottaki said the new approach should also cover some parts of Pakistan.

Moeller welcomed the idea, saying it is realistic and appropriate for the regional situation and expressed hope that the allies in Afghanistan would support the new approach.

The two foreign ministers also discussed other issues ranging from the Middle East crisis to the latest developments in the nuclear issue.

They also called for the expansion of political and parliamentary ties between the two countries.
