AGREEMENT SIGNED TO RENEW AMERICAN LIBRARY

laanbaatar, /MONTSAME/ On Wednesday, the USA Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Jonathan Addleton and Ulaanbaatar City Public Library Director Mijiddorj signed an agreement to continue collaboration on the American Cultural and Information Center over the next five years.
The Mongolian National Broadcast and "B" TV both covered the event. Mr Mijiddorj remarked that over the past 5 years, the American Center has become a favorite place for many Mongolians to get accurate information about the USA, learn English and to participate in a variety of interesting programs and events using the latest technologies and resources.
Today the center has around 6,200 printed materials, 495 video and audio materials and about 35 different publications subscriptions. Lecture series, free Internet access, video nights and speaking clubs are some of the most popular services.
During the signing ceremony, Ambassador Addleton commented that the American Corner is an excellent example of the partnership between Mongolian and American people. Several customers gave testimonials about how much they enjoy coming to the American Center and how useful it has been for them.
In addition, students and teachers from secondary school 33 played the Morin Khuur and performed a traditional throat singing. Students of this school have used the Center's DVC equipment several times to conduct programs with a school in Bucks county, U.S. Pennsylvania.
The Embassy looks forward to continuing this successful work with the school and all other customers over the next five years in partnership with the UB City Library.
