Vietnam wins 13 gold medals on Dec. 1 in SEA Games

Vientiane (VNA) – Vietnam won 13 gold medals on Dec. 15, bringing its gold
possession so far to 45, ranking second in the medal tally after seven days of
competition at the 25 the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Vientiane , Laos .

In shooting, Ngo Huu Vuong broke SEA Games record in the men’s individual 10m
rifle running target event with 372 points and his teammates took another gold in
the men’s team event.

A group of three marksmen including Vu Thanh Hung, Nguyen Hoang Duy and Pham Ngoc
Thanh bagged one gold in the men’s 50m rifle three position 3x40 shots mixed
team event. The fourth gold was carried off by Ngoc Thanh in the men’s individual
event.

In the fin swimming competition, Vietnam took four out of five golds and broke
three SEA Games records on just the first day. Duong Thi Huyen Trang and Nguyen
Trung Kien made new SEA Games records in the women’s and men’s 100m surface
event, respectively. Two other golds were brought in the men’s and women’s
4x100m team event and Vietnamese male fin swimmers broke the SEA Games record in
the team event.

Wrestler Man Ba Xuan defeated Michael Baletin of the Philippines and Dorn Saov
from Cambodia in a round robin format to take the title in the men’s 74kg
category.

His teammate Ta Ngoc Tan defeated three rivals from Indonesia , Thailand and
powerhouses the Philippines to pocket a gold in the men’s Greco-Roman 60kg
category.

In Judo, Huynh Nhat Thong snatched a gold after defeating host artist Chittakone
Sivanvilay in the men’s under 55-kg class final. Meanwhile, Nguyen Thanh Tai and
Nguyen Ngoc Son brought home a gold in the men’s technique event.

The last gold for the day was brought by shuttlecock players Le Thi Be Sau and Cao
Hai Yen in the team’s event.-Enditem
