Tehran, Dec 16, IRNA -- Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei said on Tuesday that Israel will suffer fresh critical blows if it ventures to attack the Palestinian people living in Gaza Strip.
The Supreme Leader made the remarks in a meeting with the head of political bureau of Palestine Resistance Movement (Hamas) Khalid Mashal.
Praising the brave resistance of the Palestinian people and Hamas in particular, Ayatollah Khamenei underlined that resistance and trust in God is the only way for the Palestinians to survive from occupation.
The future of Palestine is very promising, said the Supreme Leader adding that this is among the irreversible promise made by the Almighty God to bestow final victory upon real believers who fight injustice.
"Palestine is the major issue of the history. Currently, the resistance of people in Gaza under the heaviest pressure is on the one side, and the treason of Arabs who have hidden their real face under the guise of Islam, is on the other."
Resistance made by Hamas leaders against pressures, threats and political games is very valuable, said Ayatollah Khamenei adding that the Islamic Republic of Iran regards the issue of Palestine as its own and believes supporting the movement is an Islamic obligation.
The Supreme Leader made it clear that the enemies resorted to various scenarios to encourage Iran to adopt a neutral stand to the issue of Palestine but to no avail.
"The Palestinian issue is one of the main reason for hostility of the global arrogance against Iran. If Iran review its stand about Palestine, the hostilities will be lessened but we are determined to back the Palestinians as a religious duty."
The Supreme Leader said that Iran’s support for the cause of Palestine has roots in the teachings of Islam and the late Imam Khomeini.
“If the issue of Palestine be resolved properly, most of the hardship of the Islamic Ummah would come to an end.”
Referring to threats posed by the Zionist regime to the Palestinian people, Ayatollah Khamenei said if the Zionist regime initiates another war against Palestinians living in Gaza, they will receive much more humiliating defeat and would be disgraced in the world as before.
The Hamas leader, for his part, thanked the courageous support made by the Iranian leadership, the nation and government for Palestine and briefed the Supreme Leader on the latest developments in the region.
Mashal said that resistance is the strategy of Hamas, other resistance movements and the Palestinian people and that they never yield to any political or military pressures.
Referring to the military threats made by the Zionist regime against the people in Gaza, he said, “If they commit another mistake and ignite another war, they will receive a humiliating defeat in light of high morale of the pious people of Gaza. They are well-prepared to handle a war longer than that of the former 22-day."
