Tehran, Dec 15, IRNA - Head of the Hamas Political Bureau Khalid Mashal said here on Tuesday that the Palestinian resistance movement needs support of the Muslim nations, especially Iranians, to survive.
Addressing students at the Imam Sadeq (AS) University, he added that although the Zionists have occupied the Palestinian lands by displacing and killing them, the movement has been resisting the Zionists for a century without the support of the arrogant powers.
Asked why Britain, France and the US insisted on the establishment of the Zionist government, he said that they wanted to take aim at the heart of Islam and turn it into a center for their interests.
“If we remove the military base of the Zionist regime from the region, the Islamic world will be liberated,” Mashal pointed out.
“We have no enmity with any nation but we are opposed to the alliance of nations with the Zionist regime,” he said.
“We are keen on ties based on mutual respect; otherwise we reject them,” he went on to say.
Commenting on Iran’s nuclear activities, he said that the West has adopted a double-standard policy vis-à-vis the regional countries.
While Israel has turned into a stockpile of nuclear weapons, the West opposes Iran’s peaceful nuclear activities, the Hamas official said.
Mashal further said that the Muslim nations should stand united against the enemies and avoid disputes.
Hamas favors the establishment of peace in the region without the involvement of the aliens, he conlcuded.
