VIETNAM INCREASES INVESTMENT IN HEALTHCARE

Hanoi, June 7 (VNA) - The Vietnamese Government over recent years has increased the State budget proportion for the development of healthcare services, Vice Minister of Public Health Nguyen Thi Kim Tien on June 5. Addressing the opening of an ASEAN seminar on healthcare in Hanoi , Tien said the government also called for other investment resources and accelerate the development of private healthcare services. According to the official, Vietnam has been building a nationwide healthcare service system and step by step improving the healthcare service quality. Chairing the seminar, ASEAN General Secretary Surin Pitsuwan said the regional countries have a lot to do to build up institutions for healthcare liberalisation within the 2010-2015 period. He stressed the need of regulations on training and exchanging of medical workers between regional countries to help improve the healthcare quality.
