Iran's president, Azeri minister confer

Tehran, Dec 15, IRNA – President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said here Monday evening that the expansion of Tehran-Baku bilateral ties would benefit both sides.

President Ahmadinejad made the remarks in a meeting with the visiting Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Elmar Maharram, expressing hope that all-out ties between the two countries would further boost in the near future.

Regretting over the worldwide economic and political crises, the Iranian president said the two sides should further bolster mutual cooperation in all areas.

Appreciating the move by Azeri representative who left the meeting of Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and did not attend its voting session, Ahmadinejad said such a move is an indication to friendly relations between Tehran and Baku.

Maharram, for his part, termed Tehran-Baku ties as growing, underlining the need for further increase in bilateral cooperation in all arenas.

Pointing to the Azeri government’s support for the Islamic Republic of Iran's legitimate rights, Maharram said Baku would oppose all anti-Iran resolutions./end
