Iranian official meets with Lebanese parliament speaker

Beirut, Dec 15, IRNA -- Head of Iran's Parliament Cultural Commission Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel here Monday met and conferred with Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri.

According to IRNA correspondent in Beirut, during the meeting in the presence of the Vice President and Head of the Culture and Islamic Relations Organization Dr. Mahdi Mostafavi, the two sides discussed bilateral ties, regional and international developments.

Nabih Berri presented a comprehensive report on latest status of internal affairs in Lebanon, particularly on the establishment of the national unity cabinet here.

Haddad-Adel, too, praising the prominent role always played by Mr. Berri in promoting peace and stability in Lebanon during the past years, and particularly the past months, congratulated the establishment of the new Lebanese cabinet to him, the Lebanese government and nation.

The two sides meanwhile stressed the need for further expansion and deepening of ties and cooperation between the two countries.

Also present at the meeting there were the care taker of the IRI Embassy Mir-Mas’oud Hosseinian and the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Cultural Attaché to Lebanon Seyyed Hossein Ra’eiszadeh./end
