Iran reaffirms commitment to uranium swap
Tehran, Dec 14, IRNA -- Iran on Monday reaffirmed commitment to uranium swap to secure fuel supply for Tehran medical research reactor Iran demanded from the International Atomic Energy Agency.
Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said on Monday that Iran is ready to take delivery of 20 percent enriched fuel rods in Kish island in return for a stage-by-stage swap with Low Enriched Uranium.
"it proves Iran’s sincerity and it should be regarded as a suitable opportunity for the other side."
Mottaki made the remarks in a joint press conference with his Azeri counterpart Elmar Mammadyarov.
“We do not insist on our proposal but we only wanted to create an opportunity to secure fuel supply for Tehran medical reactor,” he said.
He said that it was one step forward to prove our goodwill and a suitable opportunity for them.
“We cannot insist on our proposal to urge them to accept it but after such proposal we have not received any clear response from them,” Mottaki said./end
