Memo of continuing WFP aid to displaced people in Saada signed
SANA'A, Dec. 13
(Saba)- Yemen and World Food Program (WFP) signed on Sunday a memorandum of
understanding to
extend date of offering relief and humanitarian assistance to displaced people until
June of 2010.
Under the agreement, the WFP would continue offering urgent relief food assistance
for the displaced people who left their homes due to war in Saada province until
mid of
next year.
It is scheduled that the WFP would present food assistance for around 30,000
children under five years old.
The memo was signed by Deputy Minister for Economic Affairs and Minister of
Planning and International Cooperation Abdul Kareem al-Arhabi and regional
director of the program.
Al-Arhabi valued the WFP assistance in supporting efforts fo the Yemeni government
to present humanitarian aid for the displaced people.
The WFP official expressed readiness of the program to continue its food aid to the
displaced people in Saada AH
