BRIEF NEWS FROM KHOVD
Ulaanbaatar, /MONTSAME/ The loss of big domestic animals like horse, cow and camel has been increasing in Khovd aimag, the western province.
A wintering has worsened there due to thick snow that has been ranging from 20-30 cm in steppes to 50-60 cm in mountainous regions. As of today, some 68,000 big animals have perished in the province due to the harsh winter. The most losses have been observed in mountainous zones in soums of Duut and Monkhkhairkhan.

A unique photo exhibition opened in Musical and Drama Theatre in the center of this province. This exhibition is attracting much attention of locals. Artist of the theatre, Honored Cultural Figure of Mongolia, B.Giimaa mounted this exhibition by a photo collection of her 35 years of work. These hundreds of pictures displayed tell a 30-year history of the province's theatre.

A center of swimming pool opens its doors in Khovd province. A local company successfully completed a construction of this swimming pool that is considered to be the first of its kind in western region and the fourth in the country. A total of MNT 750 million was spent on building of this center, which has been equipped with the latest technologies and facilities.
The swimming pool has a capacity of serving to 50 people in a shift. Local residents are very happy and they suppose that this pool will positively influence children, young people and all those willing to improve their health.

A livestock census is now underway in Khovd. Main feature of this year's census is to count animals not according to what herders claim they own, but to focus on live counting session only.
The census will be conducted untill December 17, 2009.
