Iran calls for prompt action of Pakistan on kidnapped diplomat

Manama, Dec 13, IRNA – Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki called for prompt action of Pakistan to clarify the situation of Iranian diplomat, Attarzadeh who was kidnapped in Pakistan.

In a meeting with Foreign Minister Seyyed Mahmood Qureshi, in Manama on Saturday, Mottaki underlined the responsibility of the Pakistani government for protection of the diplomats.

Taking decisions and practical steps to clarify situation of the kidnapped diplomat in Peshawar, Pakistan, and releasing him is necessary, Mottaki added.

Referring to the current developments in Afghanistan, increasing terrorism and radicalism in the region, Mottaki said considering western powers' operation with incorrect policies and inappropriate interferences which has caused the situation, taking a regional approach to solve the regional problems and crises would be the best decision.

Qureshi for his part, said that the Pakistani government will do its utmost concerning the kidnapped diplomat.

Concerning situation in the region, especially Afghanistan, Qureshi stressed that Iran as a neighboring country with high capacity, has an effective role in regional developments.
