Berlin, Dec 12, IRNA -- Germany's peace movement on Friday vented its anger at the decision of the Nobel Committee to award this year's Nobel Peace Prize to US President Barack Obama, labeling it "one of the biggest mistakes" in the 100-year history of the Nobel Committee.
In a press statement, the spokespersons of the German peace movement,
Peter Strutysnki and Luehr Henken slammed the decision of the Nobel
Committee to give the prize to Obama in view of US plans to boost its troop presence in Afghanistan by 30,000, saying it "damages the global prestige of the Nobel Peace Award."
To honor the president of a country which has the largest military budget in the history of mankind is "grotesque," Strutysnki and Henken said.
They added that Obama was not qualified to have the Nobel Peace Prize as
long as the US sticks to its military doctrine of "full spectrum dominance."
Most Germans believe Obama did not deserve winning the Nobel Peace
Prize, according to earlier surveys./end
