Iran Air Force to hold exercise: commander
TEHRAN, Dec. 11 (MNA) -- Air Force Commander Brigadier General Hassan Shah-Safi has said that the Air Force is going to undertake an air-to-land exercise in the near future.
Shah-Safi made the remarks at a ceremony held on Thursday to present awards to the pilots who performed well during the most recent air exercises.
He also pointed out that the last air exercise was held during the daylight but the coming one will be held at night.
The Iranian Armed Forces and the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps held a joint military exercise in November, which lasted for five days.
The maneuver covered an area of 600,000 square kilometers (230,000 square miles) in the northwest, west, south, and southwest of Iran.
In the war games, air defense units of the Air Force and the IRGC Aerospace test-fired anti-aircraft systems, targeting mock enemies.
Medium-range surface-to-air Hawk missiles, SAM 6 missile systems, Skyguard fire control units, as well as Oerlikon 20 mm cannons and 23 mm cannons were successfully tested.
In addition, fighter jets recognized and struck mock enemy stealth bombers and fighter jets in sensitive areas of the country.
