SPEAKER HOLDS NEGOTIATIONS WITH DUMA'S CHAIRMAN

Ulaanbaatar, /MONTSAME/ A delegation headed by the Speaker D.Demberel arrived Wednesday in Russia to pay an official visit .
The same day, the Speaker held negotiations with B.V.Gryzlov, the Chairman of the Russian State Duma (SD), and met with S.M.Mironov, the Chairman of the Federal Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation (RF), to share views on the bilateral relations and cooperation.
Mr Gryzlov expressed a satisfaction with meeting with Mongolia's parliament Speaker, widening of the Mongolia-Russia relations and cooperation in recent years, and with several high level mutual visits. He underlined that the Speaker's visit has great importance in expanding the relations and cooperation between the countries including the inter-parliamentary ties.
The Speaker thanked Mr Gryzlov for inviting to visit Russia. “The year of 2009 is a historical year for the bilateral relations. This year, the visits to Mongolia paid Russia's President, the Prime Minister, and the Chairman of the Federal Council of the Federal Assembly,” he said adding that these visitations are an expression of Russia's authorities and people attaching a great importance to the relations and cooperation with Mongolia.
The Speaker said, “The ties between the legislative bodies between the countries occupy an important role in the bilateral relations. The State Great Khural has close ties with the Houses of Russia's parliament”. He expressed his satisfaction with these ties and collaboration, and suggested the Russian side to work establishing connections between the parliament office of Mongolia and the SD's apparatus, and between the parliamentary Standing committees as well.
Mr Demberel mentioned that Mongolia-Russia relations have been developing at a level of strategic partnership, and said he is satisfied with an active development of the trade and economic cooperation. He underlined importance of intensifying activities of the "Erdenet" mining corporation and the "Mongolrostsvetmet" joint venture, of raising their benefits, modernizing the agreement on the “Ulaanbaatar Railway” joint stock company, tackling a debt issue, developing the railway infrastructure sector by making the biggest investments, starting activities of new joint enterprise--the “Dornod Uranium” LLC.
Mr Demberel pointed out an important role of the regional and boundary collaboration in the bilateral relations and requested the Russian side to pay an attention to creating a legal basis for realizing an agreement established between the State Heads of the countries on boosting the boundary and regional collaboration. Accordingly, he proposed working out and implementing a plan on forwarding the boundary and regional direct cooperation, founding trade and economic free zone at the countries' boundary, expanding activities of the border points in accordance with international standards. With an aim to promote the bilateral commercial cooperation, he said, the Mongolian government has a suggestion to supply each other with some products on easy terms, and requested the Russian side to back this proposal. He said Mongolia can supply Russia with meat and meat products after a meat processing joint factory is founded in the border regions.
Mr Gryzlov supported the Speaker's positions on strengthening the bilateral relations and cooperation, increasing the trade turnover, and widening the economic collaboration, and emphasized an importance of roles of the legislative bodies in refining upon the legal norms that put obstacles to strengthening of the economy.
He said he backs the Mongolian side's proposals to expand the boundary collaboration, develop a commercial free zone, and to found a joint meat processing factory.
Mr Gryzlov said Russia intends to realize big project and program on developing nuclear energy sector, and added that the country has a willingness to cooperate with Mongolia in the nuclear energy. He pointed out that the two countries have a great opportunity to cooperate in mineral deposits and infrastructure.
The Speaker invited Mr Gryzlov to visit Mongolia.
The same day, a Vice Chairwoman of the Duma S.S.Jurova gave a banquet for Mr Demberel.
