FIONA'S LAWYER ALLEGES TEMPERING WITH SAMPLES
Panaji, june 5 (PTI) - The lawyer representing Fiona Mackeown, mother of murdered British teenaged girl Scarlett Eden Keeling, has alleged the samples of Scarlet's vaginalswab were tampered with.
He said the absence of sperms in vaginal swab hasconfirmed tampering with the samples.
"The samples were in the custody of the police officer whose credibility was suspected by Fiona and Goa policethemselves," Vikram Varma, Fiona's lawyer, told P.T.I.
Referring to dismissed police sub inspector Nerlon Albuquerque, Varma said the samples were in the custody ofAlbuquerque that leads to all doubts.
Scarlett was found dead on Goa's Anjuna beach on February 18 following which Fiona had launched massivecampaign seeking justice to her daughter.
Police had arrested two locals for allegedly drugging,raping and leaving the British teenager to die on the beach.
Both of them were chargesheeted in Goa children'scourt this week.
Varma recalled that the dismissed cop in his media statement has already said that some higher level officialshad asked him to maintain a low profile in the case.
"There is every possibility that the samples are tampered," he said adding the truth would be revealed duringthe autopsy which is undergoing in the United Kingdom.
