Iran’s “Whisper” awarded at Slovakian filmfest
TEHRAN, Dec. 9 (MNA) -- Shahram Alidi’s Kurdish drama “Whisper with the Wind” won another international award at the International Film Festival of Bratislava, which was held from November 27 to December 4 in Slovakia.
The film won the festival’s Student Jury Award for “an extraordinary original portrayal, for belief in freedom, love and peace against a backdrop of cruel events in Iraq”, as mentioned in the festival’s website.
The film recently won several awards including three at the 62nd Cannes Film Festival and the 11th Mumbai Film Festival.
Alidi’s debut film is about a postman who for many years has traveled throughout the mountainous villages of the Iraqi Kurdistan region delivering messages. One day, a partisan commander asks him to make a recording of his newborn baby’s first cry.
