Iranian filmmaker presiding over jury at Dubai’s Muhr Awards

TEHRAN, Dec. 9 (MNA) -- Iranian filmmaker, screenwriter and producer Bahman Farmanara is heading the jury for the Asia Africa Features section at the 6th edition of the Dubai International Film Festival’s Muhr Awards.


Farmanara, the Director of “Smell of Camphor, Fragrance of Jasmine”, “A House Built on Water”, “A Little Kiss” and “Earthbound”, is being accompanied in this category by Indian actress and UNFPA Goodwill Ambassador Manisha Koirala, critic and film historian Jean-Michel Frodon, film curator and founder Keith Shiri and Moroccan filmmaker Noor Eddine Lakhmari.


“The White Meadows” by Mohammad Rasoulof and “Heiran” by Shalizeh Arefpur are the Iranian entries to the Asia Africa Features section.


“Whisper with the Wind” by Shahram Alidi and “A Beautiful Snowy Day” by Mahaya Petrosian and Amir Tudeh-Rusta are among the other Iranian entries to the festival.


Entries from more than 62 nations across Asia, Africa, United States, Australia and Europe are competing in the categories of documentaries, short films and feature films from December 9 to 16.


A total of 28 prizes in acting, cinematography, editing, music and scriptwriting in addition to jury and general excellence awards will be handed to the winners on the closing day.
