NORTH STAR ORDER AWARDED TO FOREIGNERS

Ulaanbaatar, /MONTSAME/ On Wednesday, the North Star Order was awarded to Sheldon Severinghaus, a board member of the Golden Gate Mongolian Friends of Mongolia NGO in San-Francisco, and Werner Prool, a former country director of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation for Mongolia.
The state prizes awarded to the foreigners for their significant contribution to establishing democracy, human rights, freedom and justice, promoting participation of civil society, forming parliamentarianism, strengthening skills of state organizations and NGOs, developing local self-governance and ensuring democratic rating of Mongolia.
Mr Sheldon Severinghaus worked before as a country director of the Asia Foundation for Mongolia, and Mr Werner Prool now is working as an advisor to the Sant Maral Foundation.
After the ceremony, the President said the Mongolians always thank the officials for all efforts to form the democracy, and then underlined that the 20-year-old democracy of Mongolia is not an achievement of one or other political power, bur it is a greatest achievement of all Mongolians.
Ending the meeting, the laureates expressed their gratitude, and said they will do many activities for their Mongolian friends.
