Tehran, Dec 8, IRNA – Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki sent separate letters on Tuesday to the foreign ministers of the IAEA Board of Governors informing them of Iran’s nuclear path and the country’s firm determination in attaining peaceful nuclear technology.
Referring to those countries who adopted an illogical stand against Iran through approving the IAEA resolution, Mottaki said there is no doubt that Tehran is determined to continue its path and fully attain the peaceful nuclear technology.
According to the Information and Press Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mottaki thanked those countries who backed Iran’s peaceful nuclear stands and also appreciated those who abstained from voting.
Mottaki also advised those who voted against Iran’s peaceful nuclear program to fully observe the legitimate rights of the NPT member states and to revise their unjust stands to this effect.
Addressing those who backed the country's peaceful nuclear stands, Mottaki said “This is to appreciate your rational and outstanding stands in ruling out the politically-motivated IAEA resolution against Iran’s peaceful nuclear activities at the Fordo nuclear site.”
Your negative vote to this resolution once again proved your commitment to the principles of the NAM and recalls the need to resist against such illegal and irrational stands, he said.
Referring to those who abstained from voting, he said Iran had informed the IAEA of the activities of the Fordo nuclear site 12 months ahead of its due time limit in order to prove its goodwill and the country has let the IAEA inspectors freely inspect the site for two times.
But the western countries, instead of lauding Iran’s constructive cooperation, in a politically-motivated move issued a resolution against Iran’s peaceful nuclear activities, he said.
It is vital for the NAM members to adopt a coordinated stand against the wrong policies of some very specific countries, Mottaki said.
Mottaki has advised those who voted against Iran to revise their behaviors and take lessens from their past mistakes.
The Islamic Republic of Iran is fully determined to develop its nuclear installations, he said, adding that the country is abided by the IAEA Safeguard Agreement in accomplishing the task.
To those who have nuclear weapons and voted against Iran, the Iranian foreign minister said such illogical acts against the peaceful use of nuclear energy by the countries who must be committed to the NPT treaty is the source of regret and you as the proliferators of such weapons have violated the article six of the NPT and your country by no means has contributed to the public disarmament of nuclear weapons.
