AZERI OMBUDSMAN OFFICE HOSTS ROUND TABLE ON HUMAN RIGHTS
Baku, 8 December (AzerTAc). The Azerbaijani Ombudsman`s Office has hosted a round table entitled “Protecting human rights is key priority for the Azerbaijani government”.
The event, marking the Human Rights Day, brought together representatives of governmental and non-governmental organizations, as well as UN Baku office.
Addressing the event, Ombudswoman Elmira Suleymanova stressed the importance of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in terms of strengthening the protection of human rights. She noted the Declaration could set an example for constitutions of new independent countries and for new democracies.
An address of United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon was read out at the round table.
