Iran's commerce minister due in Kazakhstan

TEHRAN, Dec. 8 (MNA) – Iran’s Commerce Minister Mehdi Ghazanfari, heading a trade delegation, will leave Tehran for Shymkent, the capital city of South Kazakhstan Province, on December 13.


During the five-day visit, Ghazanfari is scheduled to hold talks with the Kazakh prime minister, as well as the country’s ministers of agriculture, transport and communications, economy and trade, IRNA news agency reported.


The Iranian delegation consists of businessmen active in different fields such as food stuff, home appliances, furniture, electricity, technical and engineering services, agriculture, and construction industry.


Ghazanfari is also scheduled to inaugurate the permanent center for showcasing Iran’s products in the city of Shymkent on December 13.


The two countries trade volume (including oil exports and transit of goods) stood at $3 billion during the previous year while Iran’s exports to Kazakhstan accounted for $6.25 million of the mentioned amount.


In a recent meeting between Ghazanfari and the Kazakh ambassador to Tehran the Iranian official reiterated the need to enhance trade and commercial relations between the two countries, and stated that Iran is willing to open a bank in Kazakhstan.
