Iran's Judiciary firm to examine economic corruption cases

TEHRAN, Dec. 7 (MNA) – The Judiciary is quite determined to investigate cases connected to “huge economic corruption” and bring the culprits to the book regardless of their status, Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Sadeq Larijani said on Monday.

“There are huge economic corruption cases that I will pursue if I stay alive,” the Judiciary chief said in a meeting with judges from the National Supreme Court.

Ayatollah Larijani pointed out that there have been many cases of economic corruption which have not been examined after many years.

It is “incumbent” on the Judiciary to examine these cases and it is “determined” to do so, he pointed out.

“If the Judiciary is reformed everything else will also be reformed, otherwise it will help promote corruption in the society,” he noted.

Elsewhere in his remarks, the Judiciary chief pointed out that some feel secure in face of prosecution and have created a “margin of security” for themselves and break the law easily.

He urged the judges not be afraid of the posts and names of law breakers and implement the law “without any fear”.
