Enemies' wrath cannot affect Iran-Syria ties : Syrian PM

Damascus, Dec 7, IRNA – Syrian Prime Minister Mohammad Naji al-Otari said Sunday that the wrath of the enemies of Damascus-Tehran will not affect their ties.

He made the remarks in a meeting with Iran’s visiting Energy Minister Majid Namjoo who is currently in Syria to discuss issues of mutual interest with the country’s senior officials.

Al-Otari said that the enemies could die of anger as Tehran-Damascus is determined to continue long-lasting ties.

“Iran-Syria are faced with common challenges therefore, their governments shoulder common responsibilities in that regard,” al-Otari stressed referring to the long history of multilateral ties between the two sides.

He expressed hope that bilateral ties will further promote through exchange of visits by officials and experts of the two countries.

Al-Otari also hoped that new horizons would be opened in Tehran-Damascus ties and cooperation.

Meanwhile, Namjoo conveyed the greetings of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s government to the Syrian premier.

Bilateral political relations have indicated remarkable progress following the victory of the 1979 Islamic Revolution in Iran, he said, expressing hope that Tehran-Damascus economic cooperation would reach the same level as their diplomatic ties. /end
