RUSSIAN EMERGENCY MEDICS RETURN HOME FROM CHINA'S SICHUAN PROVINCE

BEIJING, June 4 (Itar-Tass) - Personnel of the Russian airmobilehospital and 65 doctors, who were dispatched to China's Sichuan province to assist the rescue operation in the wake of last month's devastating earthquake, left took a flight to Russia early morning Wednesday.

During their sojourn in the city of Pengzhou as of May 20, the medics received more than 1,500 patients and gave hundreds of surgeries.

They handed over the special medical equipment and medicines they had brought along with them to the Chinese authorities.

The Russian Emergency Situations Ministry delivered humanitariancargos to different places in Sichuan at the same time.

The consignments of humanitarian supplies included tents, warmclothes, blankets, foodstuffs, etc.

A group of Russian rescuers dispatched to China along with medics took part in the cleanup operation, in the course of which they managed to find a person that that had survived under the rubble of a building, althoughthe hopes for finding anyone had thinned by that time.

All in all, the Sichuan earthquake killed more than 69,000 people.
