Jalili: Unity among Lebanese political factions, ethnic groups to serve Lebanon, region

Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Saeed Jalili said here Thursday that unity of the political wings and ethnic groups in Lebanon will serve as a suitable ground for continued political stability both in the country and the region.

In the meeting with Haj Hossein Khalil, political affairs deputy to Hizbullah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah, and Ali Hassan Khalil, the political aide of Nabih Berri, the leader of Amal Movement, Jalili hailed stabilization of political conditions in Lebanon since formation of the government.

The sides in the meeting also discussed latest political conditions in Lebanon after formation of the national unity government there.

Iran’s Ambassador to Damasucs Hojatoleslam Ahmad Moussavi was present in the meeting.

Noting that Iran is ready for extensive cooperation with regional states, Jalili said the Zionist regime of Israel is cause of instability in the region.

Yet in a separate meeting with Leader of Palestinian Islamic Jihad Movement, Ramadhan Abdullah here on Thursday, Jalili said occupation and aggression are main causes of instability and insecurity in the region and the choice of resistance will guarantee stability and progress in the region.

He said since resistance was formed on extensive public demand in the region, the victories it will gain in the region in the future will be eyecatching.
