S'PORE, KOREA SIGN MOU ON DEFENSE ISSUES
Hanoi (VNA) – Singapore and the Republic of Korea have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to cooperate on defence issues to step up bilateral military relations.
The MoU was signed by Singapore 's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defense
Teo Chee Hean and the RoK’s Minister of National Defence Kim Tae-Young, who is
visiting Singapore from December 1 to 3.
According to the Singaporean Defence Ministry, the MoU is the first bilateral
defence agreement to be signed by both countries at ministerial level.
The MoU stipulates that the two countries move to formalise their existing defence
ties by holding talks on policy, exchanging visits of senior defence officials and
attending courses and seminars held by the defense ministries of both countries.
It will also allow both countries to broaden their cooperation on defence issues, to
including humanitarian assistance and military medical services.-Enditem
