D.DEMBEREL MEETS U.S AMBASSADOR

Ulaanbaatar, /MONTSAME/ The Parliament Speaker D.Demberel received Thursday Jonathan Addleton, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the USA to Mongolia.
Beginning the meeting, the Speaker congratulated Mr Addleton on becoming the Ambassador to Mongolia, and emphasized that the Ambassador has taken office in times of Mongolia's opening a chapter in its economic development and of the 20th anniversary of democratic movement.
He expressed his satisfaction with widening of the Mongolia-U.S. relations that are based on principles of comprehensive partnership, and said "the USA is the third neighbor of Mongolia".
Mr Demberel mentioned that the relationship and cooperation have been deepening in recent years, and added that the general agreement on the Millennium Challenge Fund (MCF), the Declaration on Close Bilateral Cooperation and other important documents have significantly contributed to strengthening the bilateral ties. He pointed out that the U.S legislature has adopted from 2006 the third biggest resolution that reflects a support for Mongolia.
Saying that he is satisfied with development of the bilateral relations and cooperation in all spheres, the Speaker expressed a willingness to widen the trade and economic ties and to increase a number of Mongolian students studying in the USA.
In turn, Mr Addleton mentioned about implementation of the MCF and exploration of the Oyu tolgoi deposit. He said he will make efforts to forward the bilateral relations and cooperation. "I have promised myself to expand the inter-citizen ties during my giving an oath to the Senate. So I will pay attention to all directions such as exchange of students, parliamentarians and citizens," he added.
