DYNAMICS IN NAGORNO-KARABAKH TALKS, AZERBAIJANI FM
Baku, 2 December (AzerTAc). “There is dynamics in the talks on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan. We can see it in the statement of foreign ministers of the OSCE Minsk Group. The parties show willingness to intensify talks and this has to be welcomed”, said Azerbaijani foreign minister Elmar Mammadyarov following his meeting with Armenian counterpart Edward Nalbandian in Athens.
Mammadyarov said it was possible to reach an agreement on the basic principles at least by bringing two countries` positions closer. According to him, it would lay a groundwork for signing a “peace contract”. According to the minister, reaching a consensus on the basic principles will pave a way for the peace agreement.
When asked about whether the Armenian side was constructive, the minister said a document on the conflict resolution had not been discussed since the meeting was a working one: “We talked about the format of negotiations. The last discussion on the document was held by the Presidents in Munich. The co-chairs started working on the proposals adopted in that meeting.”
