President: Iran not seeking Atomic bomb

Tehran, Dec 2, IRNA – President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said that there is no room for an atomic bomb either in our defense doctrine nor in the industrial and economic programs.

The president made the above remark referring to IAEA’s recent resolution against Iran’s peaceful nuclear program, in an interview with the Iranian TV Tuesday night.

What western countries say about Iran’s ambitions to make atomic bombs is irrelevant, he pointed out.

Referring to Iran’s recent interactions with IAEA, President Ahmadinejad said, ”We suggested that we exchange low-enriched uranium with high-enriched uranium.”

The “IAEA is duty bound to give fuel to Iran without any conditions. Exchange of 400 or 1,200 kg of fuel does not matter for us, because we have the technology of uranium enrichment,” he added.

The president criticized those who inside Iran made a hue and cry on the exchange plan and added certain circles in the west were also against it.

“We never victimize the prestige of the Iranian nation in any deal,” the president said. /end
