Tehran, Dec 2, IRNA – President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said that his recent trips to Africa and Latin America has yet again shown Iran's strategic influence and extent of relations to the world.
Speaking in an interview with the Iranian TV Tuesday night, Ahmadinejad said his visits to Gambia and Senegal in Africa and Brazil, Venezuela, and Bolivia in Latin America, showed that the western propaganda on Iran’s isolation is baseless.
On his achievements of his visit to Brazil, President Ahmadinejad said, “In spite of enormous pressure from the West and the Zionists on Brazil, they gave us a warm reception and the two sides are willing to develop relations.”
“Brazil is seeking a new order in the world and the viewpoints of its revolutionary president are close to ours,” the president said.
Referring to appropriate ground for cooperation between Tehran and Brasilia, the president said, ” They made good suggestions in the agricultural cooperation and Iran’s private sector can have lands in Brazil and receive agricultural facilities.”
Referring to the low level of relations between the two countries in the past, President Ahmadinejad said,” This was the first visit by an Iranian president to Brazil in the past 40 years. We have very close viewpoints with the revolutionary president of Brazil.”
The president referred to the peaceful use of nuclear energy in Brazil and said they have nuclear power plants but they do not produce their fuel and are interested to get help from Iran in this regard.
President Ahmadinejad said the efforts made by the Zionists in Brazil are futile and the government of Brazil is not worried about these efforts but they are worried about the military bases made by the US in some Latin American countries.
“US has completely lost people in Latin America and wants to enter the region by military force an example of which is the coup in Honduras and some other efforts which will certainly defeat.”
On his tip to Bolivia, President Ahmadinejad said, “Bolivia has been under US control for 100 years and the Americans have looted all its wealth.”
“Now, the people of Bolivia have awakened and their president is a revolutionary and we have good economic and political relations with them and Iranian firms and engineers can work in that country."
On his visit to Venezuela, the president said the biggest economic agreement in the history of Iran was signed with Venezuela.
“President Chavez is a revolutionary and a supporter of the Islamic Revolution of Iran’ the president said.
“Iran and Venezuela are cooperating in building houses and an Iranian firm is building 10,000 houses in Venezuela of which 4,000 have already been built,” the president said.
Ahmadinejad said big projects on producing milk, flour, tractors, cars, banks and a common fund have been launched.
“In my trip to Venezuela, 70 Iranian firms with 140 experts and merchants signed agreements worth $5b, unprecedented in the history of the two countries,” the president said./end
