PREMIER MEETS MEDIA REPS
Ulaanbaatar, /MONTSAME/ The Prime Minister S.Batbold received Monday board members of the Mongolian Union of Newspapers (MUN) and representatives of Mongolia's United Confederation of Journalists (MUCJ).
The MUN's president R.Khadbaatar congratulated S.Batbold on becoming a Premier and then shared views with him on urgent problems facing the journalists.
R.Mr Khadbaatar underlined a requirement to study an issue of altering the law on copyright, for it may stop copying journalists' intellectual creations, damaging someone's reputation and personal life, slandering through Internet websites under anonymous addresses.
He asked the Premier to help in providing journalists with apartments in the scope of the "40 thousand apartments" program, in improving their professional skills and foreign languages, and in involving them in short- and long-term trainings.
The president of the MUCJ D.Sarangerel congratuled the Premier and wished him successes. Then she spoke about problems facingh Mongolian journalists.
The MUCJ exchanged views with the Premier on several matters such as a need to focus on parliament's discussing of a law on media freedom, a support in marking the 60th anniversary of the Mongolian journalism organization in 2011, a creation of a foundation aimed at promoting creative works of journalists, foreign languages tranings for 20-30 journalists, a building for the Confederation, a 100th anniversary of founding journalism in Mongolia in 2013, a governmental prize named after outstanding journalist late Tseveen.
Mr Batbold said he is "glad to meet the media reps that are the strongest weapon influencing social spirit". The Premier emphasized an importance of the media in having the public understand correctly all the actions taking place in the country. He promised to study requests and proposals of the visitors and to report back.
