Tehran, Nov 29, IRNA – Visiting Russian Energy Minister Sergei Shmatko conferred on Sunday with Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki on expansion and deepening mutual cooperation.
Shmatko is in Tehran to attend the 8th meeting of the Iran-Russian Joint Economic Commission.
During their talks, both sides expressed satisfaction with holding of the meeting which they said would help bolster mutual cooperation in the transportation, telecommunication, energy, commerce, economy and banking fields.
Mottaki said that this is a very good opportunity for both sides to further exchange views and broaden mutual relations and cooperation in various fields.
Iran and Russia play a very significant role in regional and global developments, he said.
Shmatko for his part, said that the holding of such meetings will serve to expand mutual cooperation.
Referring to the global economic meltdown, he described existing ties between Tehran and Moscow as excellent. “We are determined to continue such cooperation between the two countries,” he added.
There are no obstacles on the way of expansion of mutual cooperation in various fields, he said.
