Five schools closed in Iran due to swine flu

TEHRAN, Nov. 29 (MNA) -- Five schools across the country have been temporarily closed due to the swine flu epidemic, the director of the health department at the Education Ministry said here on Sunday .

A total of five schools at the elementary and secondary levels and 10-12 classes have been closed over the past week to prevent spread of the H1N1 virus across the country, Hassan Ziadeddini said.


He referred to the Health Ministry’s latest figures, saying a total of 15 school students have lost their lives due to the disease since it emerged in the country on June 22.


According to the ministry, swine flu has claimed the lives of 140 Iranians over the past six months and a total of 3,672 individuals have been infected with the H1N1 virus so far.
