Another asylum seeker boat intercepted
A navy patrol boat has intercepted a boat carrying 49 suspected asylum seekers and
three crew about six nautical miles north of Christmas Island.
The boat was intercepted by HMAS Pirie at about 2.23am (AEDT) on Thursday.
It is the 47th asylum seeker boat intercepted in Australian waters this year.
The group will be transferred to Christmas Island where they will undergo security,
identity and health checks. Their reasons for travel will also be established.
