Vietnam has called on parties in Bosnia

New York (VNA) – Vietnam has called on parties in Bosnia and Herzegovina to
fully implement the Dayton Peace Agreement, stated the Vietnamese Ambassador.

At a UN Security Council’s discussion on Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), in New
York on Nov. 23, Ambassador Bui The Giang, Vietnam ’s Deputy Permanent
Representative to the UN noted with concern the division among political leaders,
challenging the Dayton Peace Agreement and, by implication, the sovereignty and
constitutional order of BiH.

The Vietnamese Ambassador emphasized that a t this critical juncture, the
political leaders in BiH need to work together towards a shared vision on the
direction of the country so as to speed up the smooth operation of institutions and
create more functional and efficient State structures.

He also called on political leaders of BiH to make every effort to promote
sustainable return of refugees and internally displaced persons, and guarantee
their rights to employment, health care, education and pensions.

The diplomat urged the international community to continue to play an important role
in promoting the peaceful resolution of the conflict and facilitating BiH’s
transition to a stable, reform-oriented, modern and democratic country.

On this occasion, Ambassador Giang congratulated BiH over its election as a
non-permanent member of the Security Council for the term 2010-2011, stressing that
the cause of building a secure, democratic and stable multi-ethnic State has always
been among the most important objectives for the political leaders and people of
BiH.-Enditem
