Iranian president leaves Africa for Latin America
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran left here for Brazil on the second leg of his five-nation tour of African and Latin American countries which started on Sunday.
During his 11-hour stay in Gambia, the Iranian president met with President Yahya Jammeh and attended a dinner banquet given in his honor by his Gambian counterpart.
President Ahmadinejad is on his five-nation tour, heading a high-ranking political delegation.
He is to visit Venezuela and Bolivia at the end of his two-day stay in Brasilia and also would have a stop-over in the African state of Senegal on his way back home.
This is the first time that an Iranian president visits Brazil which is the biggest country in the Latin America.
President Ahmadinejad’s visit to Latin America has had massive regional and international reactions and was considered as “very important” by experts.
