Ahmadinejad stresses expansion of ties with Gambia


– Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad stressed expansion of ties with Gambia.

He stressed the will of the two countries to expand bilateral ties and said there were no obstacles in doing so.

Talking to reporters after a meeting with his Gambian counterpart President Yahya Jammeh, he described the ties between the two nations as friendly, brotherly and with a high potential for further development.

He said very good agreements were reached with Gambian officials during the visit especially in such areas as investments, industry, agriculture and bilateral political cooperation.

He further noted that the two countries shared common views on ways of solving multitude of crises the present world was suffering from, stressing that regional crises should be settled using methods based on justice and interests of nations.

Ahmadinejad thanked President Jammeh and the Gambian people for hosting him and invited his Gambian counterpart to visit Iran.

The Iranian president arrived in Banjul on Sunday at the first leg of his five-nation tour of African and Latin American countries.

He will also visit Brazil, Venezuela, Bolivia and Senegal.
