Kuwaiti PM: Kuwait to expand ties with Iran
Kuwait’s Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser al-Mohammad al-Sabah said his country was already planning to further expand ties with Iran.
The premier made the remarks during a joint press conference with Iran’s First Vice President Mohammad Reza Rahimi before leaving Tehran Sunday morning.
He said the mutual ties will experience a tangible growth in the near future, leading to further growing relations between the two countries.
The prime minister further said Kuwait welcomed Iranian commodities by dedicating a jetty to transport of Iranian goods.
Thanking Iranian officials for their warm welcome, he further hoped that the volume of exchanges between the two countries would rise to the desired level.
Rahimi described al-Sabah’s visit to Iran as fruitful and said the emir of Kuwait will travel to Iran in coming months.
He said Iran and Kuwait were both ready to boost mutual relations.
According to Rahimi, the Kuwaiti prime minister conducted a number of very constructive talks on political and economic topics with Iranian officials during his two-day stay in Tehran.
He said Kuwait and Iran reached very good agreements on cooperation in such areas as water, electricity, oil, investment, aviation and establishment of a joint bank.
Sheikh Nasser al-Mohammad al-Sabah is the first Kuwaiti prime minister to visit Iran after the victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1979.
