Kuwait premier calls for enhanced ties with Islamic Republic of Iran

Visiting Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser al-Mohammad al-Sabah on Saturday called for expansion of relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The Kuwaiti premier made the remarks in a meeting with Iran’s First Vice-President Mohammad-Reza Rahimi.

"To attain the goal for enhanced ties, the two sides should spare no efforts to prepare grounds for economic cooperation and remove obstacles in the way of implementing the projects, he said.

The Kuwaiti premier and Iranian first vice-president said that they are willing to enhance level of the current relations in various fields.

The two sides also reviewed issues as the continental shelf, boosting the current volume of trade and reactivating the projects in recess.

Iran and Kuwait enjoy a deep-rooted and brotherly ties, said the Iranian vice president adding that Iran sees no limits for expansion of ties with Kuwait and is ready to broaden all out ties with the country.

Security pacts guarantee a sound life for countries in the region, Rahimi said adding that presence of alien forces have been harmful for the Islamic states in the region and the Islamic Republic of Iran backs collective efforts by all the neighboring countries to establish a durable security in the Persian Gulf region.

The Kuwaiti premier said, for his part, that Iran has a remarkable status in the region and has friendly ties with Kuwait.

"The Kuwaiti people never forget Iran’s noble and friendly stand during Iraqi invasion of Kuwait."

“We are determined to broaden all-out relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran,” he said.

“Kuwait’s market is open to Iran and we stretch our hands towards Iranian investors to help run projects in the country, “he said.

Premier al-Sabah, heading a high-ranking politico-economic delegation arrived in Tehran this morning to review issues of mutual interest with senior Iranian officials.

The Kuwaiti prime minister, accompanied by ministers of foreign affairs, finance, energy, oil and information, is to stay in Iran for two days. This is his first visit to the Islamic Republic.
