Cabinet agrees on Yemen accession to IMSO

SANA'A, Nov. 17 (Saba) - The cabinet
agreed on Tuesday on the accession of Yemen to the agreement of International Mobile
Satellite
Organization (IMSO) in its 2008 amended form.
The cabinet directed in its weekly meeting Transport and Parliament and Shura
Council Affairs Ministers to follow-up the completion of the necessary
constitutional procedures
required for issuing the accession law.
A note, submitted by Transport Minister, affirmed that the accession of Yemen to
IMSO agreement would benefit Yemen from IMSO services in fields of Maritime
telecommunications
and safety.
The advantages of the agreement would help Yemen to develop its technical
capacities in such areas to the appropriate levels identified by the International
Convention for
the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) 1974 and to promote Yemen's obligation for being
a side of the International Convention on Maritime Search and Rescue (SAR) 1979.
