US President Barack Obama arrived in China

Beijing (VNA) - US President Barack Obama arrived in China 's economic hub of
Shanghai on November 15 at the start of his first state visit to the country since
he assumed the presidency in January.

During his four-day stay in China, President Obama is expected to hold talks with
Chinese President Hu Jintao and Premier Wen Jiabao on a series of issues, including
the Chinese Yuan’s exchange rate, import taxes, climate change, economic recovery
and the non-proliferation of nuclear weapons.

Cooperating to find new sources of energy will top the agenda of the talks between
President Obama and President Hu Jintao, said analysts, adding that both parties are
expected to reach many practical agreements.

The Chinese ambassador to the US Zhou Wenzhong was cited by the overseas media as
saying that the visit will contribute to boosting cooperation and exchanges between
the two countries in many fields, increasing strategic bilateral trust and enhancing
the relationship between both countries in the new era.

Earlier, on November 14, President Obama said in Japan , that the US did not seek
to "contain" a rising China and that China ’s emergence could enhance global
security and prosperity. "The rise of a strong, prosperous China can only be a
source of strength for the community of nations," Obama added.

Meanwhile, Chinese President Hu Jintao said that the good relationship between
China and the US will not only meet the basic interests of the two countries
people but also peace, stability and prosperity in the Asia-Pacific region and the
