Iranian, Indian FMs hold talks

The Islamic Republic of Iran and Republic of India on Monday held talks at foreign ministerial level at Hyderabad House in New Delhi.

The talks were held in presence of visiting Foreign Minister of Iran, Manouchehr Mottaki and his Indian counterpart, S M Krishna.

The two countries are expected to discuss issues of bilateral, regional and international importance behind closed doors.

Mottaki's visit is taking place at the invitation of Foreign Minister Krishna and within the framework of the regular high-level contacts between the two capitals.

The visit will provide an opportunity for both sides to discuss issues of mutual interest including further strengthening of bilateral cooperation.

Mottaki will also meet Vice-President, Hamid Ansari, later in the day.

This is the first high-level visit to India by an Iranian official in the second tenure of the UPA government, and also the first after re-election of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
