Mottaki meets Indian Prime Minister

Visiting Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran Manouchehr Mottaki Monday morning met Prime Minister of India Dr. Manmohan Singh at his residence in New Delhi.

Mottaki, who arrived here late Sunday night on a two-day official visit, expectedly discuss issues of bilateral and international importance with Dr. Singh.
Mottaki's visit is taking place at the invitation of his Indian counterpart S M Krishna and in the framework of the regular high-level contacts between the two capitals.
The visit will provide an opportunity for both sides to discuss issues of mutual interest including further strengthening of bilateral ties and cooperation between Iran and India.
Mottaki will also meet with his Indian counterpart S M Krishna and Vice President Hamid Ansari.
This is the first high-level visit to India by an Iranian official in the second tenure of the UPA government, and also the first after re-election of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
