President hopes Asian media overcome those of Arrogance soon

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad here on Sunday evening expressed hope that the media of Asia and the Pacific region would overcome those of the Zionists and the Arrogance in the next few years.

He made the remarks in a meeting with participants in the Executive Board Meeting of the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA) opened Sunday in Tehran.

Underlining the need for solidarity among media of Asia and the Pacific region, President Ahmadinejad called for dissemination of correct and accurate news and information.

He said media affiliated to the Zionists do not disseminate news of progress and development of nations and move in line with destruction of cultures in order to eliminate identities of nations.

The media influenced by the Arrogant powers have a one-sided approach towards certain issues such as fight against terrorism, Zionists attacks on Gaza and opposition to the production and expansion of weapons of mass destruction, the president regretted.

He urged the media of Asia and Pacific to circulate message of friendship, peace and brotherhood of all nations throughout the globe.

On Iran’s peaceful nuclear program, he said the legitimate right of the Iranian nation is not negotiable.

He reiterated that Iran’s all nuclear activities are carried out within the framework of regulations of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

Voicing Iran’s readiness for constructive and sincere cooperation with Western states in the area of nuclear technology, President Ahmadinejad said nuclear cooperation with Iran would benefit the West.

The participating countries in the OANA meeting include India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Azerbaijan, Japan, Russia, Mongolia, Turkey, China, Vietnam, South Korea, Thailand, Kuwait and Afghanistan.

OANA is an association of news agencies from UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) member states in the Asia-Pacific region. It was formed in 1961 on UNESCO's initiative. It provides a news wire service containing articles donated by its members.

The OANA meeting has been holding every three years and the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) is its first Iranian member.
