Foreign Minister of Iran Manouchehr Mottaki arrived here late Sunday night on a two-day official visit.
Mottaki's visit is taking place at the invitation of his Indian counterpart S M Krishna and in the framework of the regular high-level contacts between the two capitals.
The visit will provide an opportunity for both sides to discuss issues of mutual interest including further strengthening of bilateral ties and cooperation between Iran and India.
Mottaki is also expected to discuss the 7.4-billion-dollar Iran-Pakistan-India (IPI) pipeline project in separate meetings with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Vice President Hamid Ansari and Krishna.
This is the first high-level visit to India by an Iranian official in the second tenure of the UPA government, and also the first after re-election of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
