Malaysia favors further expansion of ties with Iran

Malaysian Minister of International Trade and Industry Miustapa Mohamed said Thursday his country is willing to foster trade and economic cooperation with Iran.

Mohamed made the remarks in an exclusive interview with IRNA correspondent held on the sidelines of the International Trade Malaysia 2009 (Intrade Malaysia) Exhibition.

The minister said Iran would be Malaysia’s good trade partner in the Middle East region.

He further called for greater efforts to promote bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

Major Iranian exports to Malaysia include oil and its products, he added.
